Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 3178
- Department: means the Department of Health and Human Services. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 1-A
- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
If an applicant for or a recipient of aid is found by the department to be incapable of taking care of the applicant’s or recipient’s own health, welfare or money, payment must be made only to a legally appointed guardian or conservator for the applicant’s or recipient’s benefit.
