  • Garnishment: Generally, garnishment is a court proceeding in which a creditor asks a court to order a third party who owes money to the debtor or otherwise holds assets belonging to the debtor to turn over to the creditor any of the debtor
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    All appropriations and all other funds necessary to carry out the powers and duties of the auditor general with respect to drawing and issuing of warrants and with respect to actions in garnishment shall be transferred to the state treasurer.
