- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. For the purpose of carrying out this act, the attorney general may bring actions and the collection department may settle and compromise claims and accounts and receive and issue receipts for collections and payments subject to the supervisory control of the state administrative board. A claim or account in the amount of more than $750.00 shall not be compromised or settled at a greater discount than 15%, without the approval of the state administrative board.
