- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. A person in the business of leasing or renting a vehicle registered under this act shall furnish, upon request, the name and address of the lessee of the vehicle to the secretary of state or a police officer when needed by the secretary of state or the police officer in the course of an investigation or proceeding for a violation of this act or other felony or misdemeanor.
