  • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.

  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    In case of injury to any person, or property damage, or both, caused by the negligent operation of a motor vehicle belonging to the department of state police by an officer or employee of the department of state police, a complaint may be filed with the director of the department of state police. An investigation into the accident shall be made as provided in the rules of the department of state police. If that investigation discloses that the accident was due to the negligence of that officer or employee of the department of state police, and was not due to the negligence of any other person, a report of the investigation shall be filed in the office of the director of the department of state police. After examination of the report and, if in the opinion of the director, reimbursement for the injury to, or property damage, or both, is a proper claim, and if the claim does not exceed $200.00, the director shall make recommendation for payment, payable from the appropriation to the department of state police, and shall submit the claim and recommendation to the state administrative board. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, if the claim and recommendation are approved by the state administrative board, the claim shall be paid.
