  • Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    There is created a department of the state government which shall be known and designated as the Michigan state police, which shall consist of a director as its executive head, and of such officers and employees as may be appointed or employed in such department. The director shall be appointed by the governor, by and with the advice and consent of the senate, and shall hold office during good behavior. The salary of the director shall be such as shall be appropriated by the legislature. The director shall execute the constitutional oath of office.
