Terms Used In Michigan Laws 455.207

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
     Members admitted to said corporation at its organization and afterwards, shall file with the secretary of said corporation a writing, subscribed, witnessed and acknowledged, in accordance with the requirements of deeds, which writing shall grant to the corporation the right to exercise all jurisdiction, conferred by this act, over the lands owned by members of said corporation. Such grant of authority to the corporation shall be duly recorded in the office of the register of deeds of the county.
