Terms Used In Michigan Laws 457.15

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    Said corporation [corporations] shall have full power and authority to make and establish rules, regulations, and by-laws for regulating and governing all the affairs and business of said corporation, not contrary to the laws of this state or the United States, and to designate, elect, or appoint, from among their number, such officers, under such name and style as shall be in accordance with the constitution or charter of said lodge, who shall have the supervision, control and management of the affairs of said corporations.
