  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    The French language may be adopted as the official language of such societies, and all records and proceedings may be kept, and all meetings held in that language, and translations of any of the documents belonging to such societies duly authenticated as correct translations of such documents, or of the original documents translated from the French into the English language, shall be received whenever necessary in all courts of law within this state.
