- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
It shall be lawful for any church society incorporated under the provisions of this act, at a meeting called for that purpose, of which 4 weeks’ notice shall have been given by announcement at a regular service, by a vote of 2/3 of all the qualified members present and voting, to amend its articles of association in any way not inconsistent with the provisions of this act, or the book of discipline of the Methodist Protestant church; and such amendment shall become operative when said amended articles are executed and acknowledged in the same manner as stated in section 2 and 3 of this act and the same has been recorded, or left for record as provided in section 4 of this act.
