Active duty: means active duty pursuant to an executive order of the president of the United States, an act of congress, or an order of the governor. See Michigan Laws 484.1902
Armed forces: means that term as defined in section 2 of the veteran right to employment services act, 1994 PA 39, MCL 35. See Michigan Laws 484.1902
Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
Michigan national guard: means that term as defined in section 105 of the Michigan military act, 1967 PA 150, MCL 32. See Michigan Laws 484.1902
Service member: means a member of the armed forces, a reserve branch of the armed forces, or the Michigan national guard. See Michigan Laws 484.1902
state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
