49-2-301. Retaliation prohibited. It is an unlawful discriminatory practice for a person, educational institution, financial institution, or governmental entity or agency to discharge, expel, blacklist, or otherwise discriminate against an individual because the individual has opposed any practices forbidden under this chapter or because the individual has filed a complaint, testified, assisted, or participated in any manner in an investigation or proceeding under this chapter.
Terms Used In Montana Code 49-2-301
- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Educational institution: means a public or private institution and includes an academy; college; elementary or secondary school; extension course; kindergarten; nursery; school system; university; business, nursing, professional, secretarial, technical, or vocational school; or agent of an educational institution. - Financial institution: means a commercial bank, trust company, savings bank, finance company, savings and loan association, credit union, investment company, or insurance company. See Montana Code 49-2-101
- Person: means one or more individuals, labor unions, partnerships, associations, corporations, legal representatives, mutual companies, joint-stock companies, trusts, unincorporated employees' associations, employers, employment agencies, organizations, or labor organizations.
