Terms Used In Montana Code > Title 50 > Chapter 52 > Part 1 - General Provisions

  • Campground: means a parcel of land available to and principally used by the public for camping, where persons can camp, secure tents or cabins, or park trailers for camping and sleeping purposes. See Montana Code 50-52-101
  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Department: means the department of public health and human services provided for in 2-15-2201. See Montana Code 50-52-101
  • Establishment: means a campground, trailer court, work camp, or youth camp. See Montana Code 50-52-101
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • housing: includes but is not limited to camping spaces; trailer parking spaces; mobile, modular, or permanent barracks or structures; and any appurtenant water supply and distribution system, sewage collection and disposal system, solid waste collection and disposal system, or food service and dining facilities. See Montana Code 50-52-101
  • Parcel of land: means a unit of land all parts of which are contiguous, including contiguous lots, in the possession of, owned by, or managed by the same person. See Montana Code 50-52-101
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: includes an individual, partnership, corporation, association, or other entity engaged in the business of operating, owning, or offering the services of a campground, trailer court, work camp, or youth camp. See Montana Code 50-52-101
  • Political subdivision: means any county, city, town, or other legally constituted unit of local government in this state. See Montana Code 50-52-101
  • Prosecute: To charge someone with a crime. A prosecutor tries a criminal case on behalf of the government.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Montana Code 1-1-201
  • Trailer court: means a parcel of land upon which two or more spaces are available to the public and designated for occupancy by trailers or mobile homes for use as residences. See Montana Code 50-52-101
  • Work camp: means a parcel of land on which housing is provided by a person for two or more families or individuals living separately, for the exclusive use of the employees of the person and the families, if any, of the employees. See Montana Code 50-52-101
  • Youth camp: means a parcel of land on which permanent buildings, tents, or other structures are maintained as living quarters for 10 or more people and that is used primarily for educational or recreational use by minors. See Montana Code 50-52-101
