Unless otherwise provided by law, the majority of the members of a nonelective governmental body, or of a committee or subcommittee of a governmental body, whether that body is elective or not, shall not have a financial interest, either personally or through a member of their immediate family or a business with which they are associated, other than an interest of a de minimis nature or an interest that is not distinct from that of the general public, in matters subject to the jurisdiction of the body or committee or subcommittee.

Terms Used In Nebraska Statutes 49-1498

  • Business: shall mean any corporation, partnership, limited liability company, sole proprietorship, firm, enterprise, franchise, association, organization, self-employed individual, holding company, joint-stock company, receivership, trust, activity, or entity. See Nebraska Statutes 49-1407
  • Immediate family: shall mean a child residing in an individual's household, a spouse of an individual, or an individual claimed by that individual or that individual's spouse as a dependent for federal income tax purposes. See Nebraska Statutes 49-1425
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
