1.  The commission in a county whose population is less than 47,500 may request technical assistance from the Department of Taxation to carry out the duties of the commission. Upon such a request, the Department of Taxation shall provide to that commission such technical assistance to the extent that resources are available.

  • population: means the number of people in a specified area as determined by the last preceding national decennial census conducted by the Bureau of the Census of the United States Department of Commerce pursuant to Section 2 of Article I of the Constitution of the United States and reported by the Secretary of Commerce to the Governor pursuant to 13 U. 2.  The board of county commissioners of a county whose population is 47,500 or more shall provide the commission in that county with such staff as is necessary to carry out the duties of the commission. The staff provided to the commission pursuant to this subsection shall provide such technical assistance to the commission as the commission requires, except the staff shall not render an opinion on the merits of any proposal or other matter before the commission.
