Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 292:8-j

  • Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
In addition to the penalty provided by N.H. Rev. Stat. § 292:8-i, the commission may institute in any court of competent jurisdiction, an action to prevent or restrain any violation of the provisions of N.H. Rev. Stat. § 292:8-g or 8-h and the court shall adjudge to the plaintiff such relief by way of injunction (which may be mandatory) or otherwise as may be proper under all the facts and circumstances of the case, in order to fully effectuate the purpose of this subdivision.
