Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 19:31-6a

  • Election: means the procedure whereby the electors of this State or any political subdivision thereof elect persons to fill public office or pass on public questions. See New Jersey Statutes 19:1-1
  • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
25. The Secretary of State is designated the chief State election official and shall be responsible for the coordination of this State’s responsibilities pursuant to the provisions of the “National Voter Registration Act of 1993,” Pub.L.103-31 (42 U.S.C. § 1973gg et seq.) and the “Help America Vote Act of 2002,” Pub.L.107-252 (42 U.S.C. ss.15301 et seq.).
