- Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Human Services. See New Jersey Statutes 30:1-1
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. - Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
The county shall maintain a record of any person receiving residential functional services and make the record available for examination by the department. The county shall cooperate fully with the department in the department’s review and investigation of the person or his chargeable relative’s financial ability to pay for the residential functional services provided to the person. A determination of indigency shall be made by the department and retained in the person’s record maintained by the county.
If arrangements are made which are satisfactory to the department for full payment of the cost of care and treatment of the person and if the commissioner or his designated agent is satisfied that the person requires residential functional services and should be admitted then he shall be so admitted.
