Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 30:8-46

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. If the person so placed at outside labor has been regularly employed, arrangements shall be made for a continuation of said work insofar as possible without interruption. If not employed in any job, every effort shall be made to secure some suitable employment. Any such person so employed shall be paid a fair and reasonable wage for such work and shall work at fair and reasonable employment and hours per day and per week. If suitable private outside employment cannot be found for any prisoner, such prisoner may be employed by the county if work is available and shall receive therefor a fair and reasonable wage and shall work at fair and reasonable hours per day and per week.
