Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 44:4-47

  • County welfare board: means the board of a single county authorized to have charge, supervision and control of a county welfare-house and the administration of the settlement and relief of the poor for such county and to supervise through a director of welfare such work for or in relation to the poor as directed or authorized.   • May: shall be construed to be permissive. See New Jersey Statutes 44:4-1
  • Poor person: means a permanently disabled person who is without means of support as defined above. See New Jersey Statutes 44:4-1
The county welfare board, as the county bureau of relief, shall make periodical reports to the board of chosen freeholders at such times and in such manner and form as is provided in this chapter. The board shall report the amount and nature of relief furnished to each poor person for permanent or indoor, and temporary or outdoor relief, and make such other reports as the board of chosen freeholders may require either by rules or by requests in individual cases.
