Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 44:5-19.10

  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 10. Should any relative responsible for the support of such applicant or person receiving such service fail to obey the order or direction with regard to the providing of service and paying therefor, the Superior Court may, upon complaint of the County Adjuster, summon the persons chargeable before it as in other actions and summon witnesses and may order the able relatives responsible for the support of such applicant to pay such sums as the circumstances may require in the discretion of the court for such applicant and violation of any such order of the court shall be contempt of the court and the person so violating the same shall be subject to the penalties which by law may be imposed for other contempts of said court.
