Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 44:5-19.2

  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State.   • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
The lien shall state the name of the patient, the date of his admission, the rate at which payment is made by the county for such patient’s medical care and hospitalization, the name of the institution in which such service was rendered and the amount due to the county for such service at the date of the filing of the lien and the rate of accumulation, if any shall occur, thereafter and shall be signed by the director of the board of chosen freeholders of the county or such person as shall be authorized so to do by resolution of said board.
