Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 44:7-43

  • Assistance: means money payments to or on behalf of eligible persons. See New Jersey Statutes 44:7-1
  • County welfare board: means the boards established within the several counties for the purposes of administering welfare to the needy, whether set up under the authority of this chapter or pursuant to any other laws of this State. See New Jersey Statutes 44:7-1
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Subject to the provisions of this act and the provisions of chapter 7 of Title 44 of the Revised Statutes as hereinafter specified, any needy person residing in New Jersey who has attained the age of 18 years and who is blind, shall be entitled to receive assistance from the county welfare board of the county in which he resides.
