  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. A person who violates a provision of this act shall be subject to a penalty of not more than $5,000.00 for each offense. The fine shall be collected in a summary proceeding under “the penalty enforcement law” (N.J.S. 2A:58-1 et seq.) instituted by the enforcement agency responsible for the enforcement of the “Uniform Fire Safety Act,” P.L. 1983, c. 383 (C. 52:27D-192 et seq.), in the county, municipality or fire district in which the facility of the business entity is located.
