Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 53:3-6

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State.   • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
No person other than a member of the department of state police shall, directly or indirectly, wear, use, or order to be worn or used, copy or imitate in any respect or manner the standard uniforms specified in section 53:3-5 of this title. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and punished by a fine not exceeding two hundred and fifty dollars, or by imprisonment in the county jail for a term not exceeding one year, or both, at the discretion of the court.

The term “person” as used herein shall include individuals, associations, corporations, or agents, officers or officials elected or appointed by any municipality or county.
