Under the N.C. Gen. Statutes, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:| Class | Prison | Fine |

It shall be the duty of the director of the Local Government Commission to report to the district attorney of the district any violation of N.C. Gen. Stat. § 128-11 of which he may have knowledge, and any violation of such section shall be unlawful and shall constitute a Class 1 misdemeanor.
