Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 145-3

  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. The pine is hereby adopted as the official State tree of the State of North Carolina, and the longleaf pine (Pinus palustris) is designated as the emblem representing the trees of North Carolina. (1963, c. 41; 2023-63, s. 8.)
