The following definitions apply in this Article:

(1)        Airport operator. – As defined in N.C. Gen. Stat. § 20-280.1

(2)        Peer-to-peer vehicle sharing. – The authorized use of a shared vehicle by an individual other than the shared vehicle owner through a peer-to-peer vehicle sharing program.

(3)        Peer-to-peer vehicle sharing program. – A business platform that connects shared vehicle owners with drivers to enable the sharing of vehicles for financial consideration.

(4)        Shared vehicle. – A vehicle that is available for sharing through a peer-to-peer vehicle sharing program.

(5)        Shared vehicle owner. – The registered owner of a shared vehicle that is made available for sharing through a peer-to-peer vehicle sharing program.

(6)        Vehicle sharing provider. – The person or entity that operates, facilitates, or administers the provision of personal vehicle sharing through a peer-to-peer vehicle sharing program. ?(2019-199, s. 9(a).)

  • following: when used by way of reference to any section of a statute, shall be construed to mean the section next preceding or next following that in which such reference is made; unless when some other section is expressly designated in such reference. See North Carolina General Statutes 12-3
  • Person: means any individual, corporation, partnership, firm, association, trust, estate, public or private institution, group, agency, political subdivision of this State, any other state or political subdivision or agency thereof, and any legal successor, representative, agent, or agency of the foregoing, other than the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, or any successor thereto, and other than federal government agencies licensed by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, or any successor thereto.
