  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. (a) No person shall represent himself or herself as a Certified Safety Professional or Associate Safety Professional unless that person is certified by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and has duly authorized the Board to file with the office of the Secretary of State all information required by N.C. Gen. Stat. § 90-674

(b) A violation of this section constitutes an unfair trade practice under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 75-1.1, and a court may impose a civil penalty against the defendant and shall be empowered to issue a restraining order to prevent further use of the title. (2000-110, s. 1; 2000-140, s. 98.)
