There is hereby created in the state treasury the Ohio nature preserves fund. The fund shall consist of the contributions that are paid to the registrar of motor vehicles by applicants who obtain Ohio nature preserves license plates pursuant to section 4503.563 of the Revised Code. All investment earnings of the fund shall be credited to the fund.

  • State: includes the territories and federal districts of the United States, and the provinces of Canada. See Ohio Code 4501.01
  • Vehicles: means everything on wheels or runners, including motorized bicycles, but does not mean electric personal assistive mobility devices, low-speed micromobility devices, vehicles that are operated exclusively on rails or tracks or from overhead electric trolley wires, and vehicles that belong to any police department, municipal fire department, or volunteer fire department, or that are used by such a department in the discharge of its functions. The department of natural resources shall use the money in the fund to help finance nature preserve education, nature preserve clean-up projects, and nature preserve maintenance, protection, and restoration.
