Ohio Code 4779.40 – Authority to engage in 3-D printing of open-source prosthetic kits

An individual who is not licensed to practice prosthetics or orthotics and prosthetics under section 4779.09 of the Revised Code may apply to the Ohio occupational therapy, physical therapy, and athletic trainers board for the authority to engage in the 3-D printing of open-source prosthetic kits. The board shall prescribe an application form for this purpose.
Terms Used In Ohio Code 4779.40
- Orthotics: means the evaluation, measurement, design, fabrication, assembly, fitting, adjusting, servicing, or training in the use of an orthotic or pedorthic device, or the repair, replacement, adjustment, or service of an existing orthotic or pedorthic device. See Ohio Code 4779.01
- Prosthetics: means the evaluation, measurement, design, fabrication, assembly, fitting, adjusting, servicing, or training in the use of a prosthesis or pedorthic device, or the repair, replacement, adjustment, or service of a prosthesis or pedorthic device. See Ohio Code 4779.01
The board shall grant the authority described in this section if the individual meets the requirements specified in rules adopted under section 4779.08 of the Revised Code.
