Terms Used In South Carolina Code 18-1-40

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
In all criminal cases against corporations the right of appeal shall be preserved and the procedure therein shall be such as is now provided by law in other appeals in criminal cases.
