(a) A foreign limited partnership may register with the Secretary of State under any name (whether or not it is the name under which it is registered in its state of organization) that could be registered by a domestic limited partnership under § 33-42-30.
(b) A foreign limited partnership transacting business in this State under a name other than the name shown on the certificate of registration shall comply with provisions of § 33-42-45.

- Foreign limited partnership: means a partnership formed under the laws of any state other than this State and having as partners one or more general partners and one or more limited partners. See South Carolina Code 33-42-20
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
