South Dakota Codified Laws 5-24-8. Failure to account for public property as misdemeanor

Any officer who fails to comply with any of the provisions of §§ 5-24-1 to 5-24-7, inclusive, is guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor.

Under the South Dakota Laws, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:

Class	Prison	Fine
Class 2 misdemeanor	up to 30 days	up to $500
