Terms Used In Tennessee Code 2-13-104

  • Committee membership: Legislators are assigned to specific committees by their party. Seniority, regional balance, and political philosophy are the most prominent factors in the committee assignment process.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105

All candidates for state executive committee membership and for membership in the general assembly shall be bona fide members of the political party whose election they seek. Except as provided in § 2-13-115, a party may require by rule that candidates for its nominations be bona fide members of the party.
