Terms Used In Tennessee Code 4-31-709

  • Authority: means the Tennessee local development authority, a public agency and instrumentality of the state, created by this chapter, or if such authority shall be abolished, the board, body, commission or agency succeeding to the principal functions thereof or to which the powers and duties granted or imposed upon the authority shall be given by law.   • Grantee: means a nonprofit, Tennessee Code 4-31-703
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

The authority has the right, in addition to all other rights, by appropriate suit, action or proceeding in any court of competent jurisdiction, to require the grantee, its governing body, or any proper officer, agent or employee to carry out any agreements and to perform its and their duties under this part or under any rule or regulation of the authority adopted pursuant thereto.
