• waste reduction: means the reduction or elimination of waste at the source, usually within a process, including process modifications, feedstock substitutions, improvements in feedstock purity, housekeeping and management practices, increases in the efficiency of machinery and on-site, closed-loop recycling, or any action that reduces the amount and toxicity of the waste exiting the production process.
