- Tort: A civil wrong or breach of a duty to another person, as outlined by law. A very common tort is negligent operation of a motor vehicle that results in property damage and personal injury in an automobile accident.
This chapter does not affect:
(1) Chapter 101 of this code (the Texas Tort Claims Act); or
(2) a defense, immunity, or jurisdictional bar available to a local government or an employee.
