(1) The annual fees for original licenses issued for twelve consecutive months from the date of issuance under this chapter shall be:

  • Director: means the director of licensing. See Washington Code 46.70.011
  • Manufacturer: means any person, firm, association, corporation, or trust, resident or nonresident, who manufactures or assembles new and unused vehicles or remanufactures vehicles in whole or in part and further includes the terms:

  • Motor vehicle: means every vehicle which is self-propelled and every vehicle which is propelled by electric power obtained from overhead trolley wires, but not operated upon rails, and which is required to be registered and titled under this title. See Washington Code 46.70.011
  • Principal place of business: means that dealer firm's business location in the state, which place the dealer designates as their principal place of business. See Washington Code 46.70.011
  • Subagency: means any place of business of a vehicle dealer within the state, which place is physically and geographically separated from the principal place of business of the firm or any place of business of a vehicle dealer within the state, at which place the firm does business using a name other than the principal name of the firm, or both. See Washington Code 46.70.011
  • Temporary subagency: means a location other than the principal place of business or subagency within the state where a licensed vehicle dealer may secure a license to conduct the business and is licensed for a period of time not to exceed ten days for a specific purpose such as auto shows, shopping center promotions, tent sales, exhibitions, or similar merchandising ventures. See Washington Code 46.70.011
  • Vehicle: means and includes every device capable of being moved upon a public highway and in, upon, or by which any persons or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a public highway, excepting devices moved by human or animal power or used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks. See Washington Code 46.70.011
  • Vehicle dealer: means any person, firm, association, corporation, or trust, not excluded by subsection (18) of this section, engaged in the business of buying, selling, listing, exchanging, offering, brokering, leasing with an option to purchase, auctioning, soliciting, or advertising the sale of new or used vehicles, or arranging or offering or attempting to solicit or negotiate on behalf of others, a sale, purchase, or exchange of an interest in new or used motor vehicles, irrespective of whether the motor vehicles are owned by that person. See Washington Code 46.70.011
  • (a) Vehicle dealers, principal place of business for each and every license classification: Nine hundred seventy-five dollars;
    (b) Vehicle dealers, each subagency, and temporary subagency: One hundred dollars;
    (c) Vehicle manufacturers: Five hundred dollars.
    (2) The annual fee for renewal of any license issued pursuant to this chapter shall be:
    (a) Vehicle dealers, principal place of business for each and every license classification: Three hundred twenty-five dollars;
    (b) Vehicle dealer, each and every subagency: Twenty-five dollars;
    (c) Vehicle manufacturers: Two hundred fifty dollars.
    If any licensee fails or neglects to apply for such renewal within thirty days after the expiration of the license, or assigned renewal date under a staggered licensing system, the license shall be declared canceled by the director, in which case the licensee will be required to apply for an original license and pay the fee required for the original license.
    (3) The fee for the transfer to another location of any license classification issued pursuant to this chapter shall be twenty-five dollars.
    (4) The fee for vehicle dealer license plates and manufacturer license plates shall be the amount required by law for vehicle license plates exclusive of excise tax and gross weight and tonnage fees.
    (5) All fees collected under this chapter shall be deposited in the state treasury and credited to the motor vehicle fund.
    (6) The fees prescribed in this section are in addition to any excise taxes imposed by chapter 82.44 RCW.
