Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 30:4C-34

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State.   • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
34. Whenever the Division of Child Protection and Permanency shall recover or receive reimbursement of any moneys paid to any individual or organization for the maintenance of a child, the moneys so recovered or received shall be credited to the State treasury or to the Federal Government in the same proportion as they were charged in the original instance. The division is hereby authorized to take all necessary and proper action under the laws of this State for the recovery of any moneys wrongfully received or retained by any individual or organization, or for the recovery from the person or persons responsible under the laws of this State for the support of the child the value of maintenance furnished to the child.
