Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 52:4B-12.1

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 10 of P.L.1971, c.317 (C. 52:4B-10) or the provisions of section 12 of P.L.1971, c.317 (C. 52:4B-12), the Victims of Crime Compensation Office may, upon application, order the payment of relocation expenses for a witness and the family of the witness.

As used in this section, “witness” means a person who witnessed the commission of any of the offenses listed under section 11 of P.L.1971, c.317 (C. 52:4B-11) and who has been threatened as a result.
