Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 54:4-63.14

  • assessor: when used in relation to the assessment of taxes or water rents or other public assessments, includes all officers, boards or commissions charged with the duty of making such assessments, unless a particular officer, board or commission is specified. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
  • taxing district: when used in a law relating to the assessment or collection of taxes, assessments or water rates or water rents, include every political division of the State, less than a county, whose inhabitants, governing body or officers have the power to levy taxes, assessments or rates. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
At the time and place of the hearing or of the adjournment thereof and upon proof of the service of the notice, the county board of taxation shall hear the matter in a summary manner and shall render such judgment as shall be proper upon the proofs presented. A copy of the judgment shall be sent to the assessor of the taxing district and to the owner of the property.
