Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 54:5-18.3

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Said certificates shall be called “certificates as to liability for assessment for municipal improvements.” The governing body of the municipality shall, by the resolution aforesaid, designate the municipal clerk or municipal engineer as the person who shall make such certificates. The official so designated shall issue such a certificate within fifteen days after receipt of the fees hereinafter provided and of a written application from any person containing a diagram showing the location and dimensions of the tract of land to be covered by the certificate and the name of the owner of the tract.
