Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 54:52-5

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. The fact that certain acts or omissions may constitute crimes and offenses under Title 2C of the New Jersey Statutes, Title 54 of the Revised Statutes or Title 54A of the New Jersey Statutes, and may be prosecuted under sections 16 through 29 of this 1987 amendatory and supplementary act (C. 54:52-6 through C. 54:52-19), shall not prevent a person from being charged under the provisions of Title 2C of the New Jersey Statutes, Title 54 of the Revised Statutes, or Title 54A of the New Jersey Statutes, if those acts or omissions constitute crimes or offenses under any of the provisions of those titles.
