Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 54A:9-8.3

  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
Any sums collected by the Department of the Treasury on behalf of State agencies or institutions during the fiscal year in which this act takes effect are appropriated for the expense of the collection effort.
