Federal Law
means a reasonable ground for belief that an individual with developmental disability(ies) has been, or may be, subject to abuse or neglect, or that the health or safety of the individual is in serious and immediate jeopardy 45 CFR 1326.19, 45 CFR 1326.19
State Law
Maine
means a reasonable ground for belief in the existence of facts that induce a person to believe that an employee may be under the influence of a substance, provided that the existence of probable cause may not be based exclusively on any of the following:

means facts and circumstances based upon as accurate and reliable information as possible that would justify a reasonable person to suspect that a child is abused or neglected Rhode Island General Laws 40-11-2
South Carolina
means facts and circumstances based upon accurate and reliable information, including hearsay, that would justify a reasonable person to believe that a child subject to a report under this chapter is abused or neglected South Carolina Code 63-7-20
