Terms Used In Alabama Code 45-8A-130.15

  • board: means the civil service board created by this part; "appointing authority" means in the case of employees in the offices of the elected officers of the city, such elected officers in the case of all other city employees, the city governing body, or board or other agency supervising their work. See Alabama Code 45-8A-130.01
  • city: means the City of Weaver in Calhoun County; "employee" means any person including public works employees, assistant city clerk, city clerk and policemen, not excepted by Section 45-8A-130. See Alabama Code 45-8A-130.01
  • year: means a calendar year; but, whenever the word "year" is used in reference to any appropriations for the payment of money out of the treasury, it shall mean fiscal year. See Alabama Code 1-1-1

The compensation and all other expenses of the board arising under this part shall be paid from funds of the city on the order of the board in the same manner as other city salaries and expenses are paid, provided, however, that the total expenditures in any one year shall not exceed two thousand dollars ($2,000) without the approval of the city governing body. The city governing body shall provide the board space in the city hall, which shall be suitably equipped and furnished for the needs of the board, and telephone service, postage, office supplies, and stationery.
