• Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
• Building: means a single structure or connected structures. See California Government Code 70301
• Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
• County: includes city and county. See California Government Code 19
• County: includes city and county. See California Health and Safety Code 14
• Court facilities: consist of all of the following:

• Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
• Historical building: means a building that is identified as a historical building by the county board of supervisors and is either a "qualified historical building or structure" as defined in §. See California Government Code 70301
• Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). ^{Source: OCC}
• Person: means any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business trust, corporation, limited liability company, or company. See California Health and Safety Code 19
• Shared use: refers to a building which is used for both court and noncourt purposes. See California Government Code 70301
• State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Government Code 18
• State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Health and Safety Code 23
• Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
• Unacceptable seismic safety rating: means a rating of either "substantial risk" (level V), "extensive but not imminent risk" (level VI), or "imminent risk" (level VII) under the Risk Acceptability Table of the State Building Seismic Program as developed by the Division of the State Architect, April 1994, p. • User rights: means the right to exclusive use of the noncommon area within a building allocated to that use as well as shared use of the common areas of the building and the appurtenant grounds and parking. See California Government Code 70301
