  • Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
     A violation of this Act, including the commission of viatical settlement fraud, shall be considered an unfair trade practice under Article XXVI of the Illinois Insurance Code.
