Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 30 ILCS 605/4

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     Every responsible officer of the State government shall be accountable to the administrator for the supervision, control and inventory of all property under his jurisdiction, provided that each responsible officer may, with the consent of the administrator, deputize one or more subordinates to carry out some or all of said responsible officer’s duties under this Act.
